ERIK ROBISON
To describe Erik Robison as one of the most influential swing dancers in the World is no exaggeration. Along with his partner Sylvia Skylar, he was one of the original teachers at the legendary DERBY (as seen in the film “Swingers”) in Los Angeles when the US swing explosion started. He was responsible for the re-discovery and popularisation of the Dean Collins style of Lindy Hop and through his subsequent meeting with the original 1940’s dancers such as Jean Veloz (Groovy Movie), he and Sylvia developed the distinctive and now world famous “HOLLYWOOD STYLE”.

With several American Lindy Hop titles under his belt, Erik went on to perform in pop videos (Brian Setzer’s “Jump Jive & Wail”), Television Shows ( Beverly Hills 90210 & Ally McBeal), appeared on Broadway (“Swing”) and has been featured in several movies (13th Floor). He is now one of the most sought after Lindy Hop experts in the World and also teaches Shag, Balboa and Partner Charlston.

Erik is one of the finest Lindy Hop teachers we have ever come across. He is a master technician and stylist who in just a short period of time can change and improve your dancing forever. On this weekend he will be teaching with Claire Austin.

CLAIRE AUSTIN
Claire is one of the leading female Hollywood Style dancers in Europe. With her partner and husband Robert Austin, she is a former UK Lindy Hop Champion and has placed 4th in World Lindy Hop Championships twice (the highest ranking of any UK dancers), In 2002 she came 4th at the Camp Hollywood Jitterbug Contest (the first ever non-US dancer to reach the finals.)

Claire & Robert have appeared on television many times including appearances with The Cherry Poppin’ Daddies and on Top of the Pops. They also featured in pop videos with Sophie Ellis Bextor and the worldwide number 1 single, “A Little Less Conversation” with Elvis vs JXL. Her film credits include “The Last of The Blonde Bomshells” and “Mojo” where she worked as choreographer.

It was in 1999 after seeing Erik and Sylvia dance in New York that Claire and Robert decided to learn and master Hollywood Style Lindy Hop.

Workshop Level
These classes are designed for Intermediate Level Dancers and above.
Participants should feel competent at all the basic 6 and 8 count Lindy Hop moves.
You do not need to have done Hollywood Style before.
The Saturday classes will predominently focus on movement, styling and technique.
The Sunday classes will deal mainly with developing repertoire and routine building.
However, we will leave decisions on the exact content to Erik Robison.
